Juniors Classes

Pre-teen and teen Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — competitive-ready training and an anti-bullying toolkit.

The Juniors program at Gracie Barra Boca Raton is the final stage of the school's age-banded kids curriculum, serving students ages 10–14 at near-adult training intensity. Students in this program are either continuing from Little Champs 2 with years of Gracie Barra curriculum behind them, or they are joining Jiu-Jitsu for the first time as older children. Both entry points are accommodated. The Gracie Barra curriculum is structured to bring beginners in at any level while challenging students who have trained for years to continue developing.

At the Juniors level, training intensity moves meaningfully closer to the adult program. Live sparring rounds are a regular part of class structure, technique instruction covers the full range of the Gracie Barra curriculum, and students begin preparing for the technical and physical demands of adult BJJ. For Boca Raton students who want to compete — locally, regionally, or at the IBJJF level — the Juniors program provides the preparation. For those who are not interested in competition, the program provides an athletic and mental challenge that is genuinely uncommon in the range of activities available to older children in South Florida.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students from Parkland, Boca Raton Community High and Olympic Heights students from West Boca, and Atlantic High School students from Delray Beach train in the Juniors program and consistently demonstrate the outcomes their parents and teachers describe: improved focus, physical conditioning, and the kind of composure under pressure that comes from regular exposure to controlled adversity on the mat.

After Juniors, the coaching staff guides each student to the appropriate next class based on age and readiness. Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu begins at age 16. Call (561) 931-3921 to schedule a free trial class for your child at 1141 S Rogers Circle.

Why Train Juniors?

  • Near-adult training intensity — students are treated as serious students, not managed through a watered-down curriculum
  • Live sparring in a supervised environment — students apply technique under real pressure and develop composure under adversity
  • Full Gracie Barra curriculum coverage — the same progression used in 1,000-plus schools worldwide, pitched at Juniors level
  • Competition preparation for those interested — regional, state, and IBJJF-level events are accessible from this program
  • Focus, discipline, and physical conditioning that transfer to demanding academic environments in Boca Raton and surrounding areas
  • Guidance on the appropriate next class after age 14 — adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu begins at age 16
